Ali Salem, M.D., is a licensed physician who specializes in internal medicine. He is both a respected practitioner and a dedicated researcher.

Before becoming an Internist, Dr. Salem studied for his medical degree at Heinrich Heinie University Medical School in Dusseldorf, Germany. After completing his residency in internal medicine at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital in Chicago, Dr. Salem was awarded a fellowship in sleep medicine at Rush University Medical Center in 2016 and 2017.

During his residency, Dr. Salem conducted research into obesity, hypoxia, and echocardiography. He has published work in the journal Anesthesia Analgesia and has presented at prestigious conferences such as the Illinois Sleep Society Meeting and the Society of General Medicine Meeting.

Dr. Salem holds board certifications from the American Association of Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has received awards for his quality improvement projects and research presentations and has served as the vice president of the House Staff Association of Cook County.  He also actively participates in the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Physicians, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Salem is trilingual, speaking German, English, and Farsi fluently. In his free time, he enjoys playing the violin, working to protect the environment, and playing basketball.
